On a vineyard totaling 6 hectares, Francesco grows mainly Trebbiano (indigenous variety, grown since the 15th century), Catarrato, Perricone & Nerello Mascalese. The use of fertilizers & herbicides is out of the question, harvesting is done manually and no additives are added in the cellar. This is how the beautiful, mineral terroir is expressed!
About the winery
The last day of our vacation in Sicily in the summer of 2022: visit another winery or hang out by the pool? Of course we choose wine! Francesco & his wife Judith welcome us with open arms in their cellar and we spend 2 hours enjoying the expression of the terroir of Cerasa in western Sicily. We could not have wished for a better choice!
Francesco Guccione deliberately chooses not to be part of the DOC Monreale. Instead, he is part of La Renaissance Des Appellations, an organization that brings together biodynamic wine growers around the world. Biodynamic farming has been the standard in Francesco's way of growing wine since 2005, and with great success!
Although Guccione has been farming according to biodynamic standards since 2005, all his wines are currently certified purely organic. He owns 6 hectares of vineyards, growing mainly Trebbiano (grown around Cerasa from the beginning of
1400), Cataratto, Perricone and Nerello Mascalese.
Francesco's elegant wines you definitely don't want to miss!
