After completing his master's degree in viticulture and oenology, Gian Luca worked for years as a consultant to winemakers in Italy. In 2011, he finds the perfect place in his native Langhe to realize his dream: to produce wines that express the unique, beloved terroir of the Langhe. So he founds Segni di Langa, which consists of 4 hectares of vineyards. In the early years, Gian Luca's focus is primarily on the Pinot Nero grape, perhaps not quite according to classic Piedmontese guidelines. Later, cultivation of the more famous Piedmontese grape varieties soon followed.

Gian Luca is known for working with what nature has given him. All his wines express the grape variety, Langhe terroir and vintage characteristics. His passion is to create emotions for everyone who tastes his wines. Through biodynamic viticultural methods and without chemical additives or pesticides, Gian Luca makes wines of the highest quality.

With a minimal intervention approach to vinification, all of Gian Luca's wines are made as naturally as possible with no filtering and no removal of insoluble substances. Only a very limited amount of sulfur dioxide is added. The maceration lead time ranges from 22 to 55 days. The wines are then aged in oak barrels and terracotta.

Although he calls himself a farmer, we certainly consider Gian Luca one of the most talented winemakers today. Each year his winemaking style is unique, and we at Earthy Wine are more than excited to offer a wide range of Gian Luca's natural wines. Whether it is the fruity and detailed Barbera, or the very exciting Pinot Nero, one thing is for sure: you will have a great drinking experience!
