Many different wines are produced in the Loire Valley. White, red and rosé and from dry to sweet, from Loire come the most diverse wines. For example, the distinctive Muscadet wine is made from Melon de Bourgogne grapes. This type of grape is widely grown in the area around Nantes. Savennières and Coteaux du Layon wines are made from the Chenin Blanc grape. This grape grows mostly in Anjou and Saumur. The beautiful red Bourgueil wine is mainly produced in Touraine.
