Raphaëlle Guyot
In early May 2022, we are introduced to Raphaëlle's wines during Chai l'un Chai l'autre in Courgis, in the middle of beautiful Chablis. Soon we recognize the uniqueness of her natural wines amid established names such as Pattes Loup, Domaine de Moor & Domaine de la Cadette. We are therefore more than happy to offer a number of wines from the very talented Guyot!
About Raphaëlle Guyot
In 2018, Raphaëlle decided to settle in her native Puisaye Forterre, at the edge of what is still considered Burgundy, but geographically almost closer to the Loire than to the heart of wine production in Burgundy. In this region, there is even an appellation that makes room for the use of Sauvignon Blanc; an opportunity that Raphaëlle Guyot impressively seizes.
Raphaëlle starts very small in 2018 with a fallow plot, only to take over 1 hectare of land in 2019. Her goal is to revive the lost vineyard and replant the hills once planted with vines. Currently, Raphaëlle has about 1.5 acres of vines, but she dreams of expanding this to about 15 acres. The vines she works with are always densely planted, and she believes that hard and regular ground work in the beginning, combined with biodynamic farming, is the key to producing grapes of exceptional quality in the future.
In her vineyards, Raphaëlle encourages crop diversity by growing oats, wheat and lentils, among other crops. She also actively integrates livestock into her vineyards. This encouragement of biodiversity ensures that all of her wines demonstrate an energetic freshness. Immaturity is in no way recognizable in her wines!
Currently, much of Guyot's production still comes from purchased grapes. The quality of these is already so impressive that we are greatly looking forward to her future wines coming from her own plots. For now, we are delighted to introduce her energetic Aligoté, Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noirs to the Dutch market.
